Just like the augmented reality filters on your smartphone that allow you to wear glasses, hats, and other silly faces, dentists are getting in on the game. Researchers in Switzerland have developed a “virtual mirror” that allows patients to try on their new smile ahead of the surgery.
This technology was created by Kapanu and is called the Kapanu Augmented Reality Engine. After the patient’s entire mouth is 3D scanned the software can begin overlay some better looking choppers. The software allows for users to see live video of their new smile from any angle.
