One of the risks travelers deal with when staying in hotels is the possibility of bringing home bed bugs. They can hitch a ride with you in your luggage, clothes, or even your books. It just takes one hotel guest to bring the pests to the hotel and then the little guys spread out. They are incredibly difficult to eradicate and tend to re-emerge post treatment. Scary stuff.
Maciej Ceg?owski, a writer and computer programmer has created The Bedbug Registry to compile bed bug sightings. He created the website/registry after having a traumatic experience at a San Francisco hotel. The Bedbug Registry site has a list of the top cities and hotels for bed bugs as well as a search function for individual hotel look-ups. The top bed bug cities are New York and Chicago, the top hotels are listed after the break.
